Who We Are

The Asphalt Pavement Association of Indiana (APAI) is a 501(c)6 non-profit association founded in 1959. APAI exists to advance the safest and highest-quality asphalt infrastructure to drive Indiana’s economy.

Delivering Member Value

APAI supports its more than 100 member companies through technical training, advocacy, collaboration, workforce development, and strategic marketing initiatives that elevate the performance and value of asphalt pavements in Indiana.

APAI’s diverse membership includes Indiana’s asphalt producer contractors, lay down contractors, binder suppliers, engineering consultants, equipment and material suppliers, and industry service providers—all working together to deliver safe, smooth, and long-lasting infrastructure. Since 1959, APAI has been a trusted resource for technical expertise and industry leadership, helping shape the future of asphalt pavements in Indiana.

Partnering

Collaboration is at the core of APAI’s mission. The association works closely with the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), as well as cities, towns, and counties throughout the state, to support innovation, share best practices, and address evolving infrastructure needs.

Driven by active member engagement and a strong committee structure, APAI fosters collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. By sharing knowledge, advancing technology, and championing best practices, APAI and its members are building longer-lasting pavements and delivering greater value for Hoosier taxpayers and communities.

Strategic Plan 2025-2030

Our Mission: Advancing the safest and highest-quality asphalt infrastructure to drive Indiana's economy.

In early 2025, the APAI Strategic Planning Committee convened to thoughtfully evaluate the association’s priorities and chart a clear path forward. Through a collaborative and forward-looking process, the committee developed a comprehensive strategic plan that aligns closely with APAI’s mission and commitment to advancing the asphalt industry in Indiana. Designed to guide the association through 2030, this strategic plan serves as the foundation for decision-making, program development, and member engagement—ensuring that everything APAI does is purposeful, impactful, and aligned with the long-term success of its members and the industry as a whole.
