Scholarships

Since 2010, APAI has proudly invested nearly $1 million in scholarships. We believe that building a strong, sustainable industry starts with cultivating a steady pipeline of talented individuals ready to lead the future of transportation infrastructure in our state. The APAI Scholarship Program invests in high school and college students who are likely to enter Indiana’s asphalt industry.

Each year, APAI Scholarships are awarded to outstanding students pursuing degrees in construction management, civil engineering, and construction engineering management at accredited Indiana universities. Recipients are selected through an application and in-person interview process with APAI’s Workforce Development & Scholarship Committee.

In 2024, APAI introduced its High School Awards Program for graduating high school seniors in Indiana’s growing Civil Construction Pathway program. This award helps cover the costs of starting a career in the asphalt industry, such as union dues, work boots, apparel, and other essentials.

Both of these programs are made possible through the strong support of APAI members at events like Shooting for Scholarships, our Winter Conference shotgun raffle, the Trine University Golf Outing, and endowed contributions through the NAPA Educational and Research Foundation.

At its core, the APAI Scholarship Program is about more than financial support—it’s about building connections, creating opportunities, and inspiring Indiana’s brightest students to pursue meaningful, long-term careers in a thriving and essential industry.
