Each year across Indiana, asphalt tons are placed on city and county streets, trails, athletic facilities, airports, highways, interstates and more. Every construction season, contractors demonstrate their expertise and skill that are required to place these long-lasting and durable mixtures. Some projects don’t just meet owner and public expectations but go above and beyond the requirements. APAI recognizes these exceptional projects at the annual Winter Conference & Expo. These projects are awarded a Quality Pavement Award in six different categories to recognize exceptional quality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail.
Award Categories
These categories include any projects let by INDOT. If a project is an LPA job let by INDOT (with an INDOT contract number), the project should be submitted in these categories.
These categories include any road project let by a public agency, excluding INDOT. Examples include:
- City/town or county streets and roads (including subdivision streets not privately owned)
- CCMG projects
These categories include any public or private project not included in the categories above. Examples include:
- Commercial, industrial, and school parking lots
- Privately-owned roads
- Aviation (runways, aprons, taxiways)
- Recreational facilities (racetracks, athletic courts, trails)
