Kirsten Fowler
Kirsten Fowler serves as Executive Director of the Asphalt Pavement Association of Indiana (APAI), a role she has held since 2019. In this capacity, she leads the association’s strategic direction, advocacy efforts, and industry engagement initiatives, working to advance quality, innovation, and collaboration across Indiana’s asphalt pavement industry.
Kirsten brings a strong technical foundation and industry experience to her leadership. She joined APAI in 2016 as Technical Director, where she played a key role in supporting members through education, specification development, and best practiceimplementation.
Prior to her work with APAI, Kirsten worked as an engineering consultant, where she gained valuable experience in transportation engineering and project delivery.
Kirsten began her career in the asphalt industry with a heavy highway contractor, first as an intern and later as a Project Engineer following her graduation. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Purdue University in 2011.
With a career rooted in both field and technical expertise, Kirsten is a dedicated advocate for the asphalt industry and a respected leader among her peers.
Elizabeth Pastuszka
Elizabeth Pastuszka has served as the APAI Director of Technical Services since 2023. In this position, she leads the association’s technical programs, providing guidance, education, and support to members and the public while promoting quality and innovation across Indiana’s asphalt industry.
Elizabeth brings more than two decades of experience in asphalt materials and constructio. Prior to joining APAI, she spent eight years with a heavy highway contractor  working with asphalt mix design, quality control , and continuous improvement of asphalt materials and processes.
Elizabeth began her career in the asphalt industry in 2003 with INDOT, starting as an Assistant Asphalt Engineer and went and moving on to serve in key roles as a Materials Engineer and Construction Engineer, gaining extensive experience in specifications, materials performance, and project delivery.
Elizabeth earned her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Michigan State University in 2003 and began her career in Indiana shortly thereafter.
With deep expertise spanning both the public and private sectors, Elizabeth is a trusted technical leader committed to advancing best practices and strengthening the performance of asphalt pavements across the state.
Jaymie Hunckler
Jaymie Hunckler serves as Director of Member Services APAI, a role she has held since 2019. In this position, she leads the association’s member engagement and workforce development initiatives, working to create meaningful opportunities for connection, education, and industry growth.
Jaymie oversees APAI’s workforce development programs, including the APAI College Scholarship Program and high school awards program, helping to build the next generation of asphalt industry professionals. She also manages all aspects of the association’s events, including the highly regarded APAI Winter Conference and Expo, ensuring each experience delivers value, connection, and impact for attendees.
In addition to her program leadership, Jaymie plays a key role in member recruitment, engagement, marketing, and communications. She is passionate about fostering a strong, connected membership and creating programs that are not only informative, but also memorable and engaging.
Jaymie takes great pride in supporting and promoting Indiana’s asphalt industry, bringing energy, creativity, and a member-first mindset to everything she does.
