Putting Your Estimating Skills to the Test
Welcome to the Asphalt Bidmasters Competition, an asphalt estimating and project management learning experience for students in Indiana’s civil career pathway programs. Hosted by the Asphalt Pavement Association of Indiana (APAI), the competition challenges student teams to analyze an actual paving project, calculate material quantities, develop a cost estimate and construction schedule, and prepare a professional bid proposal. Along the way, students gain hands-on experience, apply classroom skills to a real construction project, and connect with professionals from Indiana’s asphalt industry.
Overview and Guidelines
The Overview and Guidelines includes project timeline, team requirements, deliverables, evaluation criteria, and instructions for preparing the cost estimate and construction schedule.
Parking Lot Plan Sheets
This is a real set of INDOT plans that you'll use to define the project scope and determine material quantities for the cost estimate.
Materials Quantity Worksheets & Cost Estimate Form
The Materials Quantity Worksheet and Cost Estimate Form will guide you through your bid to determine material quantities and costs for materials, trucking, and labor/equipment. Accuracy and attention to detail are essential for a strong project submission.
